Can anybody suggest any cheaper alternatives for Malia, Crete? we’re looking to book for end of July/August for 1 week. Is there anyware with the same sort of heat and nightlife, but cheaper. Ideally, we’re looking to spend around £300 per person for self catering accomodation and flights together.
we arent really interested in Ibiza or Cyprus.

i am going to greece with my hubby, we are staying at the malia resort, it look ok, i don’t mind what the hotels like to be honest, but i was just wondering what the rest of it’s like? do they have many restuarnts near? i love greek food and im 3 months pregnant so i will be wanting plenty of food, anyone else been there let me know what it was like, i i know it’s a good night life but im not that interested in that, i can sleep through anything, thanks x

Since Greece was once part of the Ottoman Empire what effect did that have on Greece? Did it cause alot of Greece to have something Middle Eastern about it like the music, the food, the way Greek people look or did Greece manage to remain the way they always were and it isnt really visible?

Is it a really bad place for backpackers. I really want to go when I go backpacking this summer but I heard something about Greece natives being infamous for mugging backpackers and in the couple of the stories I’ve read about backpacking the characters have ALWAYS gotten mugged or robbed there. Is that true? Should I avoid Greece all together or just be careful? I’m traveling alone.
