I just checked, and a US dollar is worth $1.50 to 1 euro in Italy and Greece, so bring more than you would spend here! I have a lot of friends who have been to Italy and one to Greece, and they loved it! You should try to find little places that will be willing to barter with you to lower the price

The exhange rate varies from day to day. You can exchange money for euros or use a credit card. I would suggest $500.00. Every city tour guide usually gets a tip the bus driver gets a trip at the end and the tour directer also gets a tip at the end. Bring dollar bills to tip the city tour guides. Europe is expensive and travelers checks cost you to exchange and you will not have any time to exchange them if you are on a tour. Have fun you will love it. Italy is known for gypsies. Stay away from begging children and mothers they will rob you blind. i know from experience! Keep you money in a wallet that wraps around your neck. you can get one at target.

I don’t remember how much we spent in Italy 3years ago. We just returned from 10 days in Greece and we averaged 86 euros per day for lunch, dinner, tips, snacks and small souvenirs. 86 euros x $1.56 = 134.16. Thanks to our wonderful government our money isn’t worth very much.

I went on the Italy EF college break tour and I brought about $800 American dollars in spending which is even less in Euros. I barely spent any of it though except like in cafes and an impulse buy on $200 sunglasses! I don’t know why I did that haha. But basically it depends on your personal shopping habits. I personally hate spending a lot of money on clothes and such and where you will be visiting are tourist attractions so they will definately be expensive. I’d say 400-500 to be safe? It really depends on how much of a spender you are. EF pays for a lot of the trip as you know so I found I didn’t need too much extra money. You’re going to have a lot of fun!!!
