Go Greece

Is it a really bad place for backpackers. I really want to go when I go backpacking this summer but I heard something about Greece natives being infamous for mugging backpackers and in the couple of the stories I’ve read about backpacking the characters have ALWAYS gotten mugged or robbed there. Is that true? Should I avoid Greece all together or just be careful? I’m traveling alone.

   oh, if you are female and alone, i would be careful anywhere east of austria. take a gf with you, someone to watch your back.
   women are considered “fruit to be taken and eaten” in a lot of countries, especially if there is not a man to claim her.
   I know it is crude, but very real.

   you shouldn’t pass up an opportunity. if you really want to go, you should go, just be very careful and don’t flash to everyone that you’re a tourist. don’t bring any valuables i.e. flashy jewelry and put your wallet away, oh, pepper spray is a plus =)

   I have been in Greece 2 years ago….greek people are nice….other people are dangerous…there are many albanians (especially them) , russians, indians etc

   So go and be really careful!

   i was in greece last year and could not belive how safe a big city like athens seemed

   i saw beautiful single girls riding the metro after 11pm at night wearing mini skurts and looking really hot and no one bothered them

   i was astounded at how safe it looked

   but be smart always

   defintely go

   the islands are relly safe too….just dont be silly you will be fine
