    1 - obviously the cities - Athens /Thessaloniki / Patra

2 - obviously the villages - the further away from the city - the stronger they hold the traditions

I’ve always thought myself to be quite ‘bright’ but emilio…… - I have no idea what your answer means!

I am glad you defined “developed”. I am not sure I can agree with it as “development” much of the time goes awry.
I would define development as the increased capacity of the people in an area to “Know thyself” and hence that which makes them contended and fulfilled.
Cosmopolitanism, fashion, income, infrastructure are merely facades of what we have come to call ‘Civilization’.

    Northen Greece is very traditional.

To take your explanatory remarks on the reverse order.
The most traditional regions of Greece are the small villages, the remotest from regional capitals and the big cities named above. The people living on those villages are mostly elderly people refusing the amenities of the towns on account of their livelihoods. Then again, the places on the north borderline are the less developed and neglected with the whole Thesprotia prefecture of the Ipirus region being the poorest in the whole EU. Among the most traditional places in Greece, Cretan villages are not only in customs but also in their local dialect.
Generally speaking areas excluding the 3-4 big cities receive little if nothing in the ways of infrastructure and development in public works. And that is a reason of people fleeding to the main centers.
Among the most “developed” places, the most frequently visited islands are the leaders in income and way of living for the inhabitants, Corfu, Rhodes, Santorini, Myconos, Crete being the leading ones and not in that order. Other islands too, are receiving the influx of the tourist trade and all it brings along with it. Both good and bad.

    Well said emiliosa….
The most developed places in Greece are the least developed places!
